报告简介

They have previously initiated screening for severe forms of immunodeficiency using TREC/KREC in newborns and their method which is now implemented in the Swedish national newborn screening program. They are also helping to run this in Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Iceland, the Netherlands and a few other countries. In the future, several additional diseases are expected to be screened for. Thus far, only PKU and hearing loss are regularly being screened for in Chinese newborn children. Lately, they have therefore started a pilot project running WGS on newborns in China - not only as a diagnostic service for those with a suspected disease but also on newborns who appear healthy at birth. Many mutations in essential genes have been found, prompting an expansion of the study. Although there are considerable ethical hurdles, this is the future of newborn screening.
